Bug Reports

Reproducibility is key. Please provide as much information as possible so that we are able to reproduce the bug you describe. If possible, when you encounter a bug, go back and try to get it to happen again so you can be sure how it happens. Exact steps are incredibly helpful!

Screenshots: Providing a link to a screenshot (or even a short video) clearly showing your issue is immensely helpful. Simply attach it to your report.

Output Log / Crashes: Distance generates an output log which will help us greatly in diagnosing your issue. If possible, please attach your output log to your post (especially in the case of a crash).

  • On Windows: “[SteamFolder]/steamapps/common/Distance/Distance_Data/output_log.txt”

  • On OSX: “/Users/[username]/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log”

  • On Linux: “/home/[username]/.config/unity3d/Refract/Distance/Player.log”

Beta Disclaimer: While Distance is in beta, experimentation comes first, stability second. We’ll do our best to fix game breaking issues as they arise, but our priority while in beta is to experiment with gameplay and features.     After i think about why isnt this game is not as fun as Nitronic Rush, i got something. Nitronic Rush's talking guy was funny and interenting. Music's are good but Nİtronic Rush has other musics when car is in air and nitro has another music. That was make me feel RUSH. In this game colours are too boring. Blue can make people feel in future. But more shining colours was better. That shining and extinguish thing was makes place alive. Pleas answer me. I really want to play this game in a better version. Like i say.

    • Replace Gravity Triggers with Gravity Zones

      I thought I had read about this idea a time ago, but I can't find anything about this now:

      The problem: If you manage to circumvent the trigger at the end of the (zero-g or low-drag) section, your physics are not reset to normal and you are free to complete the whole track with these settings. This makes for (in my opinion) very dumb tricks on some maps. It makes no sense in the context of the game and feels just like a glitch.

      Here is the way to fix this once and for all: Gravity Zones. These would work…

      • Kill Grid Cylinder Scale Errors

        Basically, the size of the Kill Grid Cylinder's kill area is larger than the rendered grid.

        This is where my car exploded from hitting the grid, which is quite a distance from where the grid looks like it is.

        It's not just a precision inconsistency either (where one feature is calculated as a circle, and the other one is only approximated), the kill area is further out than the furthest point of the rendered grid. (From the center of the cylinder)

        • Flight 'Auto Level' behaves oddly with PlanetWithSphericalGravity

          The player's car does not automatically level while flying parallel to the Y axis, even if gravity is not in that direction. (Fly 'north' or 'south' near the equator, with the Y axis being the figurative rotation vector)

          Currently the only object to change the direction of gravity is the PlanetWithSphericalGravity dev object, but it can be encountered in the credits level otherwise.

          • Memory Mananagement not Ideal/Low Memory Warning

            After a lot of testing, I have found that Distance is alerting the user to low memory. Rather, it simply crashes at random (with some actions always giving a crash) when the VRAM starts to get full. An easy way to see this is to launch a lot of Chrometabs at once until there is about 1000-800MiB of VRAM left, then try to launch the attached the file in the level editor. It should load after a while, enter playtest successfully, then crash when leaving playtest back to editor. The log does not show the same exact object, but rather…

            • LWEMon.exe is started by Distance but not shut down/killed

              LWEMon.exe is started by Distance but never stopped when you exit the game. Therefore the Steam-Client thinks that Distance is still running, and you cannot exit the Steam Client or restart Distance until you manually killed LWEMon.exe.

              • Profile selection in solo arcade mode

                There needs to be an option to select profile when doing solo runs, because my runs are not recorded under my profile they are recorded under another profile. Can be reproduced by going to split screen, creating a profile, and then going to solo mode and pausing at any race start.

                  Sometimes it happens that 2 players have the same id (or something like that).
                  If one finish, he can't see itself on the result screen, and the other is completly blocked on the spawn, respawning continually.

                    • I was going to the Main Menu after finishing a community level and i was sent to the loading screen

                      I was going to the Main Menu after finishing a community level and i was sent to the loading screen, after that, i was waiting for the menu to come up and it didn't, tried Alt+Tab to see if anything else has gone wrong and this window popped up saying Distance had crashed i quickly panicked and closed the window which led to Distance being closed properly ( going to Main Menu and selecting to quit the game ) so i came here to report it

                        I posted this before but I have to redo my description because the issue is more different than I thought before.

                        This bug was noticed in experimental builds and only there! Some of these builds are:
                        4581
                        4587
                        4664
                        The stable build before these works just fine...

                        Basically Distance crashes my graphics drivers while playing a level. It already happens seconds after I got on my first track. The one time I tried to do multiplayer it crashed instantly. The editor is affected by this too. Changing the main menu level triggers this sometimes too but I don't really know…

                        • New "E" as "Thrusters" is not working

                          New "E" as "Thrusters" is not working, i keep falling off the track in tutorial mode. Whatever i do, it is not working and i cannot fing "Trhusters" in the options. Also, "Q" as the horn is not working either, but is written so in the options.

                            I tried making a new level, but after putting a second particle effect (forcefield) in, it won't let me edit the level. I can still access the tabs, though they don't actually work, so I had to force quit distance

                                    • When I play my workshop level(Climb), you can play the race, but you cant finish it, it wont load the place where your score should show up

                                      My race simply wont let you finish it and I have no clue why. You can recreate this bug by getting my level Climb and playing it. When you finish the 50 second race you will see what I mean.

                                        Whenever a server kicks me, or i lose connection, sometimes i try to connect to the same server, but it says I'm already connected. Yet I'm not in a race or the lobby. this has happened multiple times, but just for me as far as i know. Also, you should get a license from hot wheels so youcan use their cars, as people are making quite a few hot wheels acceleracers tracks. Or, y'know, make customizable car parts.

                                          cubemaprender is broken in experimental 4866 seems to not reflect or reflect other surfaces other then desired.
                                          It also seems to disappear reflection when i click outof distance window and then back in.
                                          1st pic happens with reflections over cubemap and desired play area.
                                          2nd pic is after deleting cubemap and putting new one.
                                          3rd pic is desired results but the results wont stay even after saving. i think i achieved this after deleting all roads and teleporters that reflect but again i wish not to.
