Bug Reports

Reproducibility is key. Please provide as much information as possible so that we are able to reproduce the bug you describe. If possible, when you encounter a bug, go back and try to get it to happen again so you can be sure how it happens. Exact steps are incredibly helpful!

Screenshots: Providing a link to a screenshot (or even a short video) clearly showing your issue is immensely helpful. Simply attach it to your report.

Output Log / Crashes: Distance generates an output log which will help us greatly in diagnosing your issue. If possible, please attach your output log to your post (especially in the case of a crash).

  • On Windows: “[SteamFolder]/steamapps/common/Distance/Distance_Data/output_log.txt”

  • On OSX: “/Users/[username]/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log”

  • On Linux: “/home/[username]/.config/unity3d/Refract/Distance/Player.log”

Beta Disclaimer: While Distance is in beta, experimentation comes first, stability second. We’ll do our best to fix game breaking issues as they arise, but our priority while in beta is to experiment with gameplay and features. Know that we read every output log and crash report, though it might take time to respond to each one.

      • In level Corruption, in Adventure mode, trapped between portals

        In level Corruption, in Adventure mode, I was just getting past the point where you are going up a wall and there are 3 saw blades moving horizontally across your path, I went through the portal, but got cut by a laser shortly after. I flew off the track and died. When I reset, I immediately fell of the wall, backwards into the portal. I managed to get back on the track, but I was going backards through the portal and seemed to be stuck in an infinite portal driving loop.

        I doubt I could reproduce.

          We will be doing a pass over all of the Adventure levels at some point. That is a weird bug and maybe we can fix it if we can reproduce it. Thanks for letting us know :)

        • Chalange level 3 "Flying without front half of vehicle.

          For some reason, I was able to fly about after having my front half cut off, wich visualy cut off where my wings attached. however, the thrusters were still there in wings out mode, so I still had control!

          • Flickering windows lights in Destination Unknown

            The windows on buildings in the final section of Destination Unknown flicker in and out unless the car is right by them. Possible Z-battle?

            • Gravity doesn't flip when the track does

              At this one specific point on The Monolith, the track flips upside down, but the gravity does not, so you just fall helplessly off the level. Earlier points in the game including the same track don't have this problem.

              • Small visual bug related to flying

                When holding down the rotational thrusters button and activating wings the thruster part of the wings wont flip out because it already was flipped out due to the thrusters being deployed. It makes it look like the wing thrusters are trying to counter your momentum :D

                • First person flying controls wonky

                  When in 3rd person the flying controlls are reletive to the camera. However when in first person mode the controlls are still reletive to the 3rd person camera.

                  To test this enter 1st person, flip over and try to manuauver upside down.

                  • Holding Boost (Shift) at start of the level sometimes does not work

                    When i press boost too early or start the level too quick, this usually happens

                        SETPS TO REPRODUCE :
                        1. Complete all stunt levels in order from start (Possibly)
                        2. Complete credits level
                        3. Get to the end of the track
                        4. Boost and break, drift into the exit

                        RESULT : At exit game does not finish instead it lets you continue through the end zone. So to end you have to go to main menu.

                        EXPECTED BEHAVIOR : The keyboard and controller should control player 1 and 2 according to what was setup at the beginning of the match.

                          • Overlapping or bordering WingCorruptionZones reactivate Wings

                            I wanted to make a Cube (for Reverse-Tag) of Lights for Tag where you would be able to infinitely fly inside but wouldnt even be able to jump or fly outside, so the natural idea was to trigger WingsOn using an ActivationArea and surround my Lightcube with WingCorruptionZones in the Roster:

                            YYY where Y would be either one big and X 2 small CorruptionZones
                            XOX O would be the Wing-Enabled Area
                            YYY

                            After i did so i offcourse did some intense testing only to find out, that upon flying over the border it worked BUT if i landed inside another…

                              • The Monolith is completely chance based

                                In all my monolith runs, I dread only one part. The 'random chance' spears. If I run into them once, they darken to the point where I can no longer see them properly (being colorblind, dim colors on a dark background blur together)
                                Is this a bug or is this intended

                                • Car camera Resets to the default close veiw after completing any stage.

                                  I'm running on a windows machine, every time I set the car camera to the farther away option it resests when I finihs a stage. I set the camera with the y button on my gamepad at the beginning of every stage, but it changes back on the next one.

                                    Spawnpoits in some points of the map should be earlier on the track. Even with boosters from orginal spawnpoint I can't go futher and I need to go back to reach needed momentum.

                                      • Barrel rolls register too early, resulting in every 9 rolls being registered as 10 rolls

                                        Tried on Sprint, Free Roam mode and in level editor Testdrive. Doing barrel rolls registers the rolls too early. Working with and without wings deployed

                                          Upon colliding with one of the droppers in Corruption (the one with the jump hole) a strange lag occurred before my car was destroyed and respawned. It seems to only happen at a specific angle and in all other instances collisions have happened normally with that mechanic.
