Bug Reports

Reproducibility is key. Please provide as much information as possible so that we are able to reproduce the bug you describe. If possible, when you encounter a bug, go back and try to get it to happen again so you can be sure how it happens. Exact steps are incredibly helpful!

Screenshots: Providing a link to a screenshot (or even a short video) clearly showing your issue is immensely helpful. Simply attach it to your report.

Output Log / Crashes: Distance generates an output log which will help us greatly in diagnosing your issue. If possible, please attach your output log to your post (especially in the case of a crash).

  • On Windows: “[SteamFolder]/steamapps/common/Distance/Distance_Data/output_log.txt”

  • On OSX: “/Users/[username]/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log”

  • On Linux: “/home/[username]/.config/unity3d/Refract/Distance/Player.log”

Beta Disclaimer: While Distance is in beta, experimentation comes first, stability second. We’ll do our best to fix game breaking issues as they arise, but our priority while in beta is to experiment with gameplay and features. Know that we read every output log and crash report, though it might take time to respond to each one.

  1. have i played this track?

    so when you download tracks from steam you are so nice that you put the little green "new" next to it, but unless you play all tracks you have downloaded in one go, you loose it. you never really know if you have played a track. so my idea is you put the little medal logo next to the track name, so you know how good you have done on the differient levels and you know weither you have played it or not, becouse if you havent there would simply be no medal.

    • Lasers on the level 'Departure' don't properly affect the car while in flight

      There are ground mounted lasers on this level, and if they are flown through at low altitude they dont cut the car/clip a tiny bit off the wings which are instantly healed. Lasers should affect the car whether or not its wings are deployed or not.

        • Purple Glitched Textures on the Car.

          I booted up the game this morning to drive a couple steam workshop tracks. However once the game was loaded the textures inside and on lower sections of the car are glitched purple. I went to the car configure sub menu to find that the car was still glitched. I rebooted the game with no change to the situation. Here are some screenshots of the glitch.

          • Damage on car and heating in flight

            Hi, i have followed your guys since the old nitronic team and i have some things to say:

            You have made all these cool ways to damage your cars with lasers and bumping into things, but why do you regenarate automaticly when you bump into things, i think the regenarate animation is really cool! and i only want it at checkpoints so i can see how much i fucked the car up on the way. also should you not overheat quicker in flight? i mean a lot more force is required for you to fly so it would only make…

            • corruption level bug

              In the level corruption when you are still the camera moves in a 360 motion making the level very difficult & some textures seem to be missing.
              The textures are after the big jump and big spike rollers. Everything is dark blue shadded and its hard to tell whats going on.
              Great game though!

              • Sometimes car explodes on pressing space button

                So it's rather disapponting when you want to jump but just explode your car instead. It happens rather common to me on any track on random moments.

                  • Respawning in the zero gravity zone makes it difficult to move.

                    It would be nice to have some sort of starting momentum.

                      During the Sector 9 level when I started my flight tutorial, the camera started to pan to different cinematic angles instead of properly steering the car.

                      • Editor: Quickly Pressing ~ to can cause properties to overlap

                        Create a new level
                        Select the spawn point and vew the properties tab
                        Press the ~ key 4 times
                        All properties overlap

                        This is now permanent on all objects, to fix you have to quit and reload the editor.

                          It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!" in a moment i press a lot of time for Up and then the game go out, and put this crash report. The game is awsome!! ;) continue whit this game!

                            Part Way through the campaign I went back to the main menu and customized my car colors, downloaded some stuff from the workshop and came back to all my progress being wiped.

                              When playing for a long time with my XBox 360 controller (so I'm not using the mouse/keyboard), the OS X screensaver will activate on top of the game.

                              • Framerate drops when OS X background changes

                                I have Distance on my main monitor, but have a second monitor. When Distance is running, the second monitor desktop is still visible. I have desktop rotation enabled every 30 minutes, and when the desktop picture changes due to this, Distance momentarily becomes unplayably slow. This sudden framerate drop really interrupts game flow.

                                • When restarting or entering a new level the camera resets.

                                  I'm not completely sure if this is a bug or just how it is, but it's very annoying especially in some levels with an early turn coming up when you have to spend a second getting your preferred camera mode again.

                                    In Nitronic Rush if I remember well the jet roll was mapped to the same stick than the one to steer, here in Distance it's very hard to reach and move precisely the right stick on a X360 controller while holding A (and RT) right after jumping with X. Any solution ?

                                    • Level stuck in no-gravity mode for rest of level after no-gravity section

                                      In the user level "Road to Oblivion Tower" (by fzeroman), there was a no-grav section. After it ended, everything seemed to be ok until the time I died and respawned at checkpoint - the game has been stuck in no-grav mode for rest of the level.

                                        Way to Reproduce:
                                        1) Launch the game the first time
                                        2) Wait till Create Profile Menu appears
                                        3) Point a cursor at the input field and click it.
                                        4) Input a profile name
                                        5) Point a cursot at Create button and click it.
                                        6) Notify, that nothing happens

                                        *Actual:* Usual point'n'click mechanics doesen't work in this menu
                                        *Expected:* All UI in game respond correctly to usual point'n'click mechanics. Navigation with keyboard arrows is unusual an uncomfortable for users
